Paul Winsor — Owner & Lead Guide
🏍️ 35 years riding
With more than 35 years in the saddle and an IAM Advanced Rider, Paul founded Columbus Motorcycle Tours with a simple but deeply held belief: that a great tour should feel effortless for the people on it. Every route, every hotel, every fuel stop is planned with care — so that riders can focus entirely on the road ahead. His style is relaxed and unrushed; whether you want to ride as a group or set your own pace, there’s room for both. What drives him isn’t just the miles and the maps, it’s the moment at the end of a great day’s riding when he sees the smiles. Ask him his favourite tours and he’ll struggle to choose — but the Alps and Dolomites, Norway and Croatia tend to come up every time.
Simon Whelan
🏍️ Nearly 40 years riding
Simon’s riding career began in the Military Police, where he served for 17 years across the globe — from Bosnia to Belize — before going on to serve with the City of London Police as an Advanced Police Motorcyclist. Since retiring in 2023, he has qualified as a DVSA-assessed motorcycle instructor and IAM member for both bike and car. Easy-going and light-hearted, Simon brings a relaxed yet utterly professional presence to every tour, helping riders of all abilities feel safe, welcome and ready for adventure.

🏍️ 15 years touring
With 15 years of motorcycle touring experience, Alex has ridden to every corner of Europe and beyond — from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco to the highways of Australia. When he’s not running his IT company, he’s exploring new routes and sharing the freedom of the open road with fellow riders. He brings technical precision and a relaxed touring style in equal measure, with a real passion for uncovering hidden gems: mountain passes, coastal roads and everything in between.
